Tämä on host-perhe-tietoisku :) Oletin perheeni sukunimen olevan 'Lopez' tai 'Martinez' (niin kuin Ricky Martin oikealta nimeltään), mutta ei, vaan jokin Vidal, josta en ollut ikinä kuullutkaan. Perheessä on siis äiti (Teresa), sisko (Mayte) ja kaksi veljeä (Jorge ja Victor). Rotaryn vaihtarina Mayte lähtee Saksaan muutama viikko Meksikoon saapumiseni jälkeen. Jorge on 25 ja asustaa Mexico cityssä, kun taas 14-vuotias Victor asuu kotona Pachucassa (mikä yllätys). Heillä on kotona myöskin taloudenhoitaja ! Heidän isänsä (Victor Hugo) asuu myös Pachucassa ja hänellä on 5-vuotias tyttö nimeltään Marisol. Isä omistaa ravintolan ja äiti tenniskaupan, joka sijaitsee niinkin lähellä kuin Leonissa, Guanajuaton osavaltiossa (työmatka lähes tuhat kilometriä hmmmh).

I'll let you know about my first host family. I expected their last name to be something like 'Lopez' or 'Martinez' (David Martinez a.k.a. Ricky Martin <3) .. But no, they are Vidal family :) There's mom (Teresa), sister (Mayte) and two brothers (Jorge and Victor). Mayte is a Rotary exchange student as well and she will go to Germany a few weeks after my arrival. Jorge is 25 and actually lives in Mexico city whereas Victor is 14 and lives at home (surprise !). They also have a house keeper ! Dad (Victor Hugo) lives in the same city with daughter Marisol who's 5 years old. Dad owns a restaurant and mom has a tennis shop in Leon, Guanajuato (it's a crazy work trip, nearly 1000 kilometers !!)

Escuela

Uusi kouluni on nimeltään Escuela Preparatoria Dr. Alberto Zoebisch. Jostakin syystä siitä käytetään vain nimitystä 'Zoebisch'.. Ylemmässä kuvassa on koulun patio. Lähteideni mukaan (host-sisko ja yksi vaihtari) oppilasmäärä on 600-800. Koulu alkaa 30.7. klo 7.oo !!!
En tiedä vielä tarkalleen, mitä aineita voin ottaa, mutta opiskelen "semestres quinto & sexto"n kursseja. Se siis tarkoittaa, että valmistun lukiosta 2013 :) Jos ei vaan täytyisi käydä loppuun suomalaista lukiota ...  Muutamia kouluaineita: espanja, englanti, ranska, saksa, etiikka, logiikka, taide (meksikolainen & universaali) ja psykologia. Koulussa on myös klubeja, kuten jalkkis, sulkkis, jooga, teatteri, tanssi ja koripallo.

This is my school, Escuela Preparatoria Dr. Alberto Zoebisch. For some reason I call it just 'Zoebisch' .. You can see a patio in the upper picture. There's 600-800 students or that's what my resources said (host-sister and an exchange-student). School will start already 30th of July 7:ooAM !
I don't know yet which subjects I will take but at least I will be in "semestres quinto & sexto". That's supposed to mean I am graduating 2013 (hurray)! Too bad I have to go back in Finnish high school. Some of the school subjects: Spanish, English, German, French, ethics, logics, arts (Mexican & universal) and psychology. There's also many school clubs like soccer, badminton, yoga, drama, dance and basketball.

Can't play soccer but never mind !!! Brand new soccer court + 2 basketball courts are totally fine by me.

MÉXICO ahora ahora !

Helsinki-Vantaan kentältä lähtee kone kohti Meksikoa 22.7. :)  México Cityn orientaatioleirin jälkeen suuntaan kohti Hidalgo-osavaltiota. Distrito Federal (pääkaupunkiosavaltio, vai mikä lie) on Hidalgon eteläpuolella. Eli México Cityyn on tunnin matka, ei paha !

My flight to Mexico will take place on 22nd of July :) Here you can see the state, Hidalgo, where I'll be living. The capital state, Distrito Federal, is in the southern side of Hidalgo. That means I've got only an hour drive to México City, not too bad !!

Host-kaupunkini on nimeltään Pachuca (virallisesti 'Pachuca de Soto'). Sitä kutsutaan myös nimellä 'La Bella Airosa' - The Windy Beauty. Kaupunki on 2400 metrin korkeudessa vuoristossa, niin eipä ihme että siellä tuulee.. Pachuca on Hidalgon pääkaupunki ja suunnilleen Tampereen kokoinen n. 300 000 ihmisen asukasmäärällä. Vaikuttaa suurkaupungilta Poriin verrattuna, mutta taitaa jäädä toiseksi México Citylle (22 miljoonaa asukasta) !! Suomi x4 ..........................

Here's some pictures of my host-city, Pachuca (officially 'Pachuca de Soto'). Also called by a nickname 'La Bella Airosa' - The Windy Beauty. I bet it must be windy up in 2,400 metres. Pachuca is the capital of Hidalgo state (whoop!) and has almost 300,00 inhabitants :) Still, it's nothing compared to those 22 million people who live in México City ! 4x Finland .................................
